1. Essential Vocabulary – Making Friends & Daily Life

Before we jump into grammar, here are some useful words from today’s lesson!

📌 Useful Expressions:

  • “잘 지내요?” (How have you been?)
  • “새 친구가 생겼어요.” (I made new friends.)
  • “빨간색이 저에게 잘 어울려요.” (Red suits me well!)

2. Grammar Spotlight: Expressing Wants with ~고 싶다

 

Want to express what you want to do? Use ~고 싶다!

Take the verb stem and add 고 싶어요 (I want to ~).
For someone else’s desires, use 고 싶어해요 (He/She wants to ~).

Examples:

  • 영화 보고 싶어요. (I want to watch a movie.)
  • 파스타가 먹고 싶어요? (Do you want to eat pasta?)
  • 패트릭 씨를 만나고 싶었어요. (I wanted to meet Patrick.)
  • 크리스티나 씨는 놀고 싶어해요. (Christina wants to hang out.)

3. Grammar Spotlight: Comparing with ~보다 더

 

Use ~보다 더 to compare two things!

Place 보다 after the thing being compared
Add 더 before the adjective/verb (더 means “more”)

Examples:

  • 미국이 한국보다 더 커요. (The U.S. is bigger than Korea.)
  • 농구보다 야구가 더 재미있어요. (Baseball is more fun than basketball.)
  • 만화책을 교과서보다 더 읽어요. (I read comic books more than textbooks.)
  • 저는 사과보다 수박을 더 좋아해요. (I like watermelon more than apples.)
